Poly Pig Cleaning

Pigging refers to a type of maintenance practice for pipelines using poly pigs. It is meant for pipe internal cleaning, coating, dewatering, drying, liquid management, batching, and inspection.  This operation is performed by injecting the pig into the pipeline from the source to the endpoint. During the travels of pigs through the pipeline, it sweeps away the cornered product and cleans the pipe walls getting the line ready for the next product.

Pig stands for Pipeline Intervention Gadget. When selecting the suitable pig for a particular pipeline, engineers need to consider a number of factors. Firstly, define the types of the task the pig will be performing. Size and operational conditions are important to take into consideration as well. Lastly, is to consider pipeline layout when choosing a pig.

Due to the difference in every pipeline, there is no fixed schedule for pigging a line, although the quantity of debris collected and the amount of wear and tear can increase the frequency of pigging.

Today, pigging is a reliable and economical method for pipeline maintenance.
